5 Minute Art Rituals Week 4

Finger-Painting for the Soul

I rediscovered finger painting this summer after watching another artist create playful designs on YouTube. Inspired, I picked up a variety of non-toxic finger paints, slipped on some gloves, and dove right in!

There's something incredibly soothing about running your fingers through thick, creamy paint. You can create unique textures using your fingertips, knuckles, and even fingernails. I also discovered that, even with gloves on, fingerprints can still appear in the paint—so for a smoother finish, be sure to apply it generously.

Finger painting is a meditative and joyful process, and the results can be surprisingly unique and expressive!

What You’ll Need: A few paint colors and a small canvas or paper.

Optional: Apron and gloves of your choice

How to Do It:

  • Ditch the brushes! Use your fingers to smudge, blend, and swirl the paint.

  • Feel the texture and focus on the sensation of touch.

  • Allow yourself to be playful—embrace the mess!

Why It Works: The tactile experience of finger-painting brings you into the present moment, grounding you in your body and emotions.
